How to EXIT Without Selling at Drycleaning and Laundry Expo Orlando, FL June 7-9, 2024
Jun 03, 2024Do you want to make more money?
Have more freedom?
Make a greater impact?
The average person who has a regular job, or works in corporate America, has roughly 35-40 working years where they work hard, advance their career, get promotions, and save for retirement. Then they retire between ages 62 and 65, and have many of their best years behind them. Except for some investments, they have a fixed income during retirement.
Most business owners are very similar. They work 35-40 hard years, working in their businesses, managing and growing their businesses, and usually instead of saving, they hope for a big payout when they sell their businesses. Unfortunately, a big tax hit or a risky earnout greets them at the end of the rainbow. They do not know how to invest their money in cash producing assets during retirement.
What most people get wrong (business owners or not) is they will enter retirement without dependable, cash producing assets. I have seen that make countless people live the rest of their lives with a scarcity mindset, watching every penny, because they don’t want to run out of money. That is not a good way to live. There is a much better way.
The goal is create a business that both operates and grows without you. Do it earlier rather than later, so you can enjoy your life, earning more money, having more freedom, and making a greater impact than you ever dreamed.
The goal is to EXIT your business without selling.
If you create a business that operates and grows without you, you will have an exponentially more valuable business when (and if) it does come time to sell your business. But you probably won’t want to sell it.
I am 51 years old and I currently put about one to two hours of work into my business, In The Bag Cleaners, each week. We have 12 stores, a large production workshop, and citywide pickup and delivery. My business has been operating and growing without me for the past few years.
Imagine only having to coach your team a couple hours a week, and then do whatever else you want the rest of the time. I choose to spend most of my time teaching and coaching other drycleaning owners like you to scale and exit their business like I have, but not to sell it until they are absolutely ready to liquidate their business. I don’t have to do this additional work, but I choose too because it allows me to make more money, have more freedom, and create more impact. And that is VERY rewarding for me.
There is a systemic progression of how you move from being a manager of your business to a visionary in your business, and then to an investor of your business. It takes very intentional work but it is without question THE BEST WAY to make more money, have more freedom, and create more impact – which is what the entrepreneurial dream is all about.
If you are heading to the DL Expo in Orlando this coming weekend, I am going to lay out the exact steps of How to EXIT Without Selling, at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8th on the DL Expo Seminar Stage. This is not theory or academia. I have done it and you can do it, too. I will show you how.
I hope to see you there!
Dave
