Time for a Big Move?

While personal New Year's resolutions rarely come to fruition (as it usually takes changes in habits and in how you see yourself to make meaningful change), January IS a time where you can begin working on having a strong year in your business – and that can create huge results! 
 
Instead of shooting for a year that is marginally better than last year (5-10% up), maybe it is time for a BIG MOVE. Isn’t that one of the benefits of being your own boss? To swing for the fences and get a grand slam home run once in awhile?
 
So many of the drycleaning business owners I talk with have lost their mojo. They have become complacent and are too comfortable to make a big move, or they are stuck and too scared to make a mistake or fail. They have stopped dreaming the big dreams.
 
I’ve got news for you. Defense rarely puts points on the scoreboard. So let’s focus on making a BIG MOVE or two in 2025. Shooting for a big change in your revenue, profit, or team structure is what will light you up, and aiming for the fences forces you to change your thinking.
 
The first step is to make sure you have the bandwidth to dream up and work on BIG MOVES. If you are a large part of your daily operations, it’s not going to happen. You will be making more work for yourself by growing the business, and will not be able to take action on your idea. 
 
Enjoy teaching others how to know what you know, and do what you do. Give all of your “doing” in the daily operations to someone on your team. That way, you will have the time to focus on business development.
 
Here are some BIG MOVES that my members have planned for 2025 to get you excited:

1. Open a new retail / drop store
2. Start a new residential route
3. Acquire a competitor
4. Install an assembly conveyor or integrated bagger
5. Build relationships with (5) influential ambassadors to promote your company to their contacts – typically owners and general managers of companies where your prospects already spend money
6. Start offering lucrative commercial Wash-Dry-Fold service
7. Increase your prices to a premium level so you can make a premium profit 

Most of these BIG MOVES fall under strategic marketing, but you won’t find many advisors talking to you about them.
