Have Your Sales Stopped Growing?
Nov 18, 2024I talk to a lot of drycleaning business owners. Many are just trying to do the same amount of sales they did last year. They have plateaued. Their sales have stopped growing.
If this applies to you and your situation, you have likely stopped playing offense.
In a football game, you can occasionally put points on the scoreboard by playing defense, but not very often. Almost all the points, and all the wins, are generated from a strong offense.
There can be a lot of reasons you stopped growing, but you need to get back on offense soon. Here are some of the reasons I have seen that could cause someone to shift from offense to defense:
- Complacency – you have become satisfied with mediocre results.
- Procrastination – playing offense takes work and involves taking risks.
- No accountability – nobody you respect is holding you accountable for having a growth mindset.
- Uncertainty – when you are uncertain or scared, you might prioritize holding on to what you have over going after what you could have.
- Avoid making mistakes.
- Shift from wealth creation mode to wealth preservation mode.
- Isolation – you are feeling defeated.
- You are too involved in daily operations and don’t want to make more work for yourself.
You must play to win. There is no “cruise control” in the game of business. You are either growing or shrinking. You don’t want to be shrinking.
Start looking for your next location. Your next area to grow routes. Your next new service you can add to your menu of services. Reach out to competitors, or send them a note to see if they are interested in selling their business.
Get back on offense. Get more clients. Get current clients in more often. Get them to spend more. Make a commitment to make 2025 your best year yet.
Get your mindset right. The only way to stay motivated is to have a future greater than your past. More money. More freedom. More impact.
Make sure you are hanging out with people who want the best FOR you, rather than the best FROM you.
